New Beds for the Girls
Ellie and Sarah got a new bunk bed that they are very excited about. We had been looking for something to help consolidate their beds for quite some time as the next step in organizing things around the house. Bonnie has wanted to get a twin over full so that there is enough room to accommodate the girls and a friend or two. Just to make sure we have enough room, we got a trundle to go along with it. This bunk bed does not have a ladder, but instead, a set of stairs along the end of the beds that also function as shelves and drawers. Ellie and Sarah just love it and spent hours going up and down the stars once I got them built, which is a story in and of itself...
It only took 3 days to get the beds delivered from bunkbedking.com, but when I got home and started opening the boxes, we found one part broken, the back support to the stairs, so I build the beds without them... forcing the girls to use the full and trundle beds to sleep on for the first week. The beds were insured, so bunkbedking.com made a claim with UPS for the broken part... We got a replacement about a week later, but UPS has yet to pick up the broken part. We used Bonnie's old twin mattress that the girls have been sleeping on for years now on the top bunk. We used our full size futon mattress that has not had a frame for a couple of years now since it broke under the weight of a few people on it at once, and for the trundle, well it just so happened that our neighbor, Carter Tolman, dropped off a coupon for $50 off a mattress at his school band's fund raiser that was happening the same weekend. They usually take orders and then have the mattresses delivered the following week, but I got them to sell me the floor model that was just barely opened for the special 1 day showing at the school. We also picked up some really nice mattress covers that are water proof, yet breathable and washable to help protect the beds.
