Bryan's 31st Birthday
One might say that Bryan Henderson isn't getting any younger, however there seems to be a big kid inside that man because he had such a good time on his birthday. He was grin'n all day long with the phone calls and well-wishing that came from everywhere. It was his day and we made it special.
November 20th ended up being on a Sunday so we invited Juliet, Matt & Keenan to come over to celebrate. It would be our cousin Cami's birthday later that week as well so we opted to have a group birthday party. I let Bryan pick the dessert which ended up being a yummy fruit pizza with a macaroon cookie crust. We had bought a beef roast to crock-pot and planned on having "smashed" potatoes, salad, rolls, & juice for dinner.
Sunday morning was crazy-busy so i didn't have time to wrap his present.....the one present that i sort of bought for him. I bought two flying saucers about a year ago, for some unknown reason, and put them in a cupboard at work and promptly forgot about them. I found them about 2 weeks before Bryan's birthday and opted to use them as his gift. I felt sort of cheap but we really have been trying to keep our cost of living down. However I did tell Bryan where I had gotten his gift and it became a joke as to what my expectations of him CAN BE on my birthday, which was 2 days later.
After church I rushed to wrap his present. Finally he got to open it!!! He was so cute; so excited!!! He had hours and hours of fun because the flying saucers could only go up and down. The control on it was very basic so it took a little bit to figure out how much throttle to give it in order to get it up in the air and NOT have it crash into the ceiling. The battery life on the saucers was only about 5 minutes so he’s charge them for 20 minutes and then play for 5. He kept doing that over and over.
Now there is a little known fact, outside of the Henderson home, that Bryan loves to take things apart and fix them. He’s rather mechanically inclined. I had gotten him two flying saucers……….ya, so I could play too!!!! One of the saucers had a short in it which made it unable to charge so he got out his tools and took the thing apart to fix the short in it. It took him almost no time at all to rewire it and have it set to charge. He was so cute!!!!
All afternoon Bryan got phone calls from my family and his.
When Matt, Juliet, Keenan , Cami & her friend Bobbi got to the house for dinner the party REALLY got started. We did a sort of pot luck buffet with the side dishes that everyone brought. We had so much salad!!!! So much so that Cami felt that it would be ok to toss some on the floor. (Muhahahahaha) Actually she spilled my salad plate off of the counter and while she was cleaning that up I went to put my plate on the table and promptly spilled my grape juice on the table. It was a comedy of errors.
Dinner was so much fun with laughter and lots of lively conversation. Keenan was also a source of entertainment. He found all kinds of toys and things to play with. We cannot wait to have one of our own!!!!!!
